End of Summer

I can't believe that summer is over! It really flew by!
These are just a few end of summer pictures that I found on my camera.

Playing in the backyard pool...

Looks like he's thinking, "my sister is so funny!"

precious boy...

Last Sunday of wearing sleeveless, seersucker outfits...

This little girl is growing up so fast!

First Day of Kindergarten!

I guess I should say "Meet the Teacher" Day, then First Day of Kindergarten.
Here is Genna with her teacher Ms. Slaton...she loves her already!

Genna made herself right at home in the classroom

First day of school! Can't believe my little girl is old enough for this!

"Mama, don't you have enough pictures, now?"

I just had to post this picture because of the funny look on Andrew's face...he really did not understand why he didn't get to go with her that day.

Earlier this summer...

Mary Frances and Genna spent almost a whole week with Memama and Grandaddy with no parents and no brothers! Here are some of the pictures that Memama took during the week.
They rode Fashion a lot, complete with boots and cowGIRL hat.
They saw the neighbor's baby colt just minutes after it was born.
climbed fences...
rode Fashion some more...
ate something from the garden (I can't tell what...I think they said some kind of berry)
Genna ate lots of canteloupe.
They decorated cookies every day, I think.
spent lots of time at the pool...
went to a picnic concert wearing matching dresses...

This is my favorite...dressed up in their Mama's old dance costumes and danced on the pool table! Apparently, Grandaddy even had fun!
They played outside with Pudge (still in the dance costumes).
And they played with sweet cousin, Kathryn, too!

They had a fantastic time. I am so thankful that these girls are such sweet friends. I hope and pray that they continue to love each other and grow up like sisters.
Still to come...The Boy's Week!

August happenings

In the last 2 weeks or so, Andrew has decided to potty-train himself. I was really not in a hurry for this, but decided to take advantage of it while he wanted to. He's also been climbing a lot, so we feel like it's only a matter of time before he climbs out of his crib. We decided to go ahead and move his "big boy bed" into his room for him to at least start napping in it for practice.
He was SO EXCITED!

The crib is still in here for now, so we have some re-decorating to do later. His room is pretty full with both beds, but I don't think it will be for very long.

I think Genna was almost as excited as Andrew!

Beach trip

We had a fantastic trip to the beach!
It started with playing in the sand and hula-hooping at Lulu's since we couldn't check in to our hotel until 4pm.

The first full day that we were there, it rained, but not enough to keep us inside! It was windy and cloudy, but we still had a great time! Genna worked hard digging and building sand castles.

We came up to our condo and had a healthy, nutritious lunch which included cheese puffs and oreos (which Genna ate together...yuck!)

We enjoyed a beautiful view of the beach and the pool(s).

Genna wrote her whole name in the sand with a feather that she found and kept for the rest of the trip.

That night, we ate dinner at the resort restaurant and took some pictures on the beach.

Day 3 was bright and sunny and hot. Genna insisted on having her goggles on at the swimming pool at all times.

We had lunch with one of Brian's friends who moved about a year ago and while we were out, we bought Genna a boogie board, which was definitely our best purchase of the trip. She had SO MUCH FUN!!!

Over and over, she and her Daddy headed out into the ocean and rode back in with the waves.

More sand castle building...

Proof that I was on the trip, too...

We played putt-putt golf that night with about a million other people. The waiting time left us plenty of time for silly pictures.

On our last full day, we let Genna do this trampoline, bungee-jumping-type thing. They attached her to these bungee cords and she jumped on a trampoline really high. She giggled and squealed the whole time...loved every minute!

More beach time...more boogie-boarding...

We ate dinner at a restaurant at a marina and walked around afterwards to look at the boats and enjoy a beautiful sunset.

On our way home, we had to stop at Souvenir City, or "the Shark store" as Genna calls it.

We really missed this little guy! He had his own vacation with his Memama and Grandaddy and big cousin, Charlie. They rode horses, tractors, went swimming, caught fish and had lots of fun! We decided he would have more fun there than at the beach with the sun, sand and water (that he doesn't care for).
