Happy Birthday, Andrew!

Can't believe my baby boy is 3 years old!  His birthday was actually April 13th...yes, I am just now getting around to posting these.  To make me feel like an even better mother, yes, that is a mini chocolate doughnut that he is eating for his birthday breakfast!  Breakfast of champions, right?

Make a wish!

Big sister looks really excited to be awake this morning...

Excitement after the birthday party

After Genna's birthday party, we headed to our favorite local pizza place to celebrate Grandaddy's birthday which is a week after Genna's.
Grandaddy and the girls.  Andrew was not being cooprative after a long day and Charlie was not able to come due to baseball practice.

While we were waiting for the check, Genna and Andrea were just talking about her loose tooth and Andrea asked if she could wiggle it.  One little tug, and it came out!  So, she lost her first tooth one day after her 6th birthday.  It was a big weekend!

Here she is showing off her new smile!  I have honestly been dreading this event because typically, Genna does not handle things like this very well.  She was so brave, though!  Didn't even cry!  I think she was just a little stunned when Andrea pulled it.  It was not at all what she was expecting!  Hopefully, this will make the future teeth-pulling a little less traumatic with the first one being over.

Happy 6th Birthday, Genna!

First of all, this post is late. I created it and never actually posted it on her birthday, which was March 23. Almost 2 weeks later, she is still telling everyone she sees "And anyway, I'm 6 now." And you have to act totally surprised at this fact.

-----------------------

Can somebody tell me how this happened? Our baby girl is 6 years old!
We came home on Thursday night so that we could be at home with Daddy on Genna's birthday. We got up early for doughnuts with him before work.

Surprise! A new bike! This one does not have training wheels, so it's going to take some practice, but I know she's ready for it!

Friday night, Mary Frances and Andrea came into town to celebrate with us at Cracker Barrel. Barbie "I can be a teacher" and a new Rapunzel wig is what they brought with them.

Trying on long hair and dress rehearsal for the party tomorrow!

Andrew's first haircut!

I realize some people wait until their child is a year old before they have their first haircut...we like to take that a little further and do it right before their 3rd birthday! Yes, Andrew finally got a haircut! A very, very tiny one. I just can't bear to cut off his sweet curls just yet, but it did need a little cleaning up. We went to Miss Delaine's during spring break and he was a perfect little angel sitting up in that chair so big!

Spring Break - Day 3 The Zoo!

On Wednesday of Spring Break, Memama and I took the kids to the zoo. It was an absolutely perfect weather day...not too hot, sunny, breezy - just perfect!
Andrew started off the day not too happy. He did not want to be in the stroller and he wanted to make sure we knew it!

Once we started seeing some animals, though, he got over it. Genna loved this bear. A couple of years ago, Brian and I went to Gatlinburg and brought her back a black bear stuffed animal, so she was excited to see a bear that looked like it.

Checking out the spider monkeys...

Flamingos have always been a favorite of Genna's. She also enjoys standing like one.

Andrew, happier now that he is walking.

Mama and Genna in front of the river otter tank. Genna has an otter stuffed animal, too, so she was especially interested in this exhibit.

These monkeys came up to visit with us.

Being inside with these lorakeets is something my children would have not done just a few months ago. They are getting a little braver!

The beauty of animals really amazes me. That God could create such beautiful creatures all so very different from one another just leaves me in awe. How could anyone not believe?

This little guy was thrilled to get to ride on the train. I think it was the highlight of the day for him.

All smiles! What a great day!

Spring Break - Day 2

Just a-swanging...

Riding horses...

Playing on the fence while waiting her turn to ride...

Peek-a-boo!

At lunchtime, we went to the Stockyards. We ate at the restaurant, listened to the auctioneer for awhile and checked out the cows.

Late afternoon, we went fishing. Andrew wanted me to take a picture of his peanut butter cracker.

My pretty, almost 6-year-old girl with a style all her own...
